Through Airplane, Bus, Car or Train you can reach Dehradun or if you are coming via Delhi by roadways then Haridwar should be your first halt. With a hustle-free approach, I would prefer to enter Uttarakhand by Train which is not just pocket friendly but quite comfortable. Starting your journey with spiritual enthusiasm will bring positivity and peace of mind. Visiting Mansa Devi Temple or meditating, doing yoga in an ashram is surely a thing your mind and body would need. Then ending the day by attending Ganga Aarti at Har ki Pauri, sitting beside the shores of Ganga will be bliss. You can also do water sport activities or local market shopping in case of spare time.
After spending a day in Haridwar you will get a local bus to Rishikesh which will take around 45 minutes to reach. Staying in Rishikesh is very cost friendly starting from Rs. 300 only. In Rishikesh, you must visit agencies situated near Laxman Jhula to Book River rafting for a thrilling adventurous experience. Experiencing rafting for 2 hours going through the beautiful landscapes of river Ganga brings great joy especially when you end up spending the evening near Ganga Ghats. From Rishikesh, you can rent a scooter to visit further places or you can take a bus towards Dehradun.
If you are from central India visiting Uttarakhand, there is a chance that you may have to start your journey from Dehradun which is the capital city of Uttarakhand due to the defined railway halts. And it’s surprising that Dehradun does have a lot of offerings for tourists as well. Visiting Robber’s Cave to seek the thrill of visiting Sahastradhara for a natural water pool experience in Dehradun will surely give you a great kick start. From paragliding to trekking to camping at night beneath a wide star-gazing sky you can end your day on a very exciting note. You can also have a round in Assan Barrage for Birdwatching where you will see rare of the rarest bird species. Dehradun also offers a great shopping experience in Old Rajpur Road or Paltan Bazar. Also, you can visit Forest Research Institute which has been used as a prime location in many Bollywood movies. The architectures in the institutes are mind-boggling and the landscapes around are so beautiful you will surely have a dreaming Déjà-vu while exploring the place.
From Dehradun, you must rent a bike or a scooter to explore the coming destination i.e., Mussoorie which is an even more hilly area where hiring a taxi is surely costlier when you have to explore all the nearby destinations. Route to Mussoorie from Dehradun is one of the most beautiful routes across India you will go through and it is preferable to choose your travelling post afternoon so you can experience the most stunning sunset in the world where you can witness ‘winter line’ which is created due to refraction at dusk that can be only been from Switzerland other than Mussoorie and a few place. After reaching the top of the hilly areas, you see a glowing Dehradun from above which is a sight to be mesmerized. You can stay in Mussoorie at a very affordable cost of nearly 1000 rs. for 2/3 person. By early morning there is a place called George Everest, which is the best place for sightseeing where you will experience some amazing mountain landscapes all around. You can also visit Kempty Falls which is just 15 km away from Mall Road. Kempty Fall is a 40 feet waterfall where a natural pool has been created.
After you have had enough in Mussoorie, you now need to go ahead to the next destination which is Dhanolti. There is a nearby route towards Dhanolti from the same route towards Dehradun. There is an Eco Park in Dhanolti which is famous for Sightseeing, Trekking and Camping and you can return from your journey if you wish to keep it this short. This is the Garhwal Region of Uttarakhand which you can go through in a short span of the holiday.
