Here we have planned a circuit route of 5-6 days to cover Kumaon region. The gateway to Kumaon region is Kathgodam. It’s a suburb of Haldwani in the district of Nainital. Nearest airport to Kathgodam is Pantnagar or if you are coming from train the Kathgodam Railway Station is directly connected to Delhi. By Road, you can come via Moradabad from Delhi. After entering Kathgodam, first hill station you can explore is Nainital. Nainital is commercialized hill station where you can find a great range of budgeted or luxury hotels and resorts. In peak-season from mid-May to July, Nainital is surely avoidable due to heavy crowed congestion. By any chance, if you are visiting in the peak-season, do make sure all your bookings are done in advance. Boating in Naini Lake, visiting China Peak and Mall road is quite an attraction in Nainital. You can also visit their famous Zoo and later Naina Devi Temple for spiritual relaxation.
Moving forward to the next destination, Ranikhet, which is only 60 kms from Nainital. It’s better to book your food options with the hotels you are going to book since there are not much restaurants available in Ranikhet. Other than Golucho Lake and Chaubatia Garden sightseeing is an amazing activity you can do in Ranikhet as it’s a place of pure nature’s flora and fauna. After visiting Ashiyana Park, you can relax your day while visiting Rani Jheel, Majkhali and Sunset point and from here you can move your voyage towards Kausni. Kausni is also a small town 60 kms from Ranikhet which is known for its natural beauty. From here the view between you and Himalaya is one of the most clearest among all the Himalaya sight-seeing hill stations. From here you will get a stunning view of Mt. Trishul which is almost 23000 feet above sea level. Kausni is a non-commercial hill station where you will not find much tourists. This makes it a very peaceful and relaxing place. After spending a day both in Ranikhet and Kausni, You can now move forward towards Munsiyari. Munsiyari is in the extreme of Uttarakhand, and to reach Munsiyari it takes almost 9 hour. Roads are extremely narrow and passes through mountains and hilly areas which makes your experience very adventurous one. There you can also go on a Khaliya Top Track which is almost 6 kms long having a moderate level of difficulty. After completing the track sight of Panchachuli, peaks of Himalaya gets completely visible. The view from Khaliya top to Panchachuli is so breathtaking and clear that it takes a moment to realise that you are not in the heaven. It takes 3-4 hours to return to your check in point where you can take a complete rest for the next expedition.
Next Day, you can start your journey towards Almora District which surely will give you a vibe of a big city again. It’s a city in nature’s lap which is quite famous for its delicious cuisine and rich cultural heritage. It’s a great shopping destination in terms of handicrafts. You may choose to visit Binsar which you can also keep as an option in case you don’t seems to visit Almora. Binsar is a wildlife sanctuary where you can live very close to raw nature and book your stay in KMVN guest house in advance. Staying for one day in such guest house will surely be giving you 100% thrilling experience where you have to keep lights dim after 5 pm as per government instruction, so that any human activity will not effect the wildlife. This works as a bliss which surely gives you a typical Jungle theme based Bollywood film feel. So if you are a raw nature lover, Binsar must be a pick for you. Very next day you can also visit Mukteshwar which is only 60 kms from Binsar. There you will find a natural rock formation Chauli ki Jaali which is a tremendous sight-seeing location.
